I am SO GLAD that you are enrolled in ART this year. Check below for information about your course. See you soon!
Mrs. Callahan
Art Club
I will have a sign-up sheet for art club during the first few weeks of school. We meet once a week on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 in the Art Room.
ART 7/8
This class is made up of mostly 7th grade students and a few 8th grade students who have not taken art at MacArthur. We will be exploring the 7 Art Elements and creating art that relates specifically to them! Like each course you will have the opportunity to enter several art shows throughout the year. It's always fun to see your work on display! The biggest show is the Annual JPS Art Show at Turtle Creek Mall. It takes place during the second semester of school, usually around February. Feel free to visit the art website to view last year’s art work!
ART 8 ROTATION
The 8th grade art rotation course is a 9 week class designed to expose each 8th grade student to art. We will be making 5-6 projects during our 9 weeks. Each project will reinforce one or two of the 7 art elements learned during the class. Don't worry! If you have taken art in the 7th grade, none of the projects will be the same! They are all new and fun! Check the Student Art Gallery for 8th grade art work from last year!
ART I: Semester
Art I is a course designed to teach students to apply both the elements of art and the principles of art to the creative process. As an art I student you will learn to use a variety of media, techniques, processes, tools to compose original works of art! Students will learn to critique and reflect on their artwork and the artwork of others. Students will have an opportunity to participate in several art shows throughout the year and will learn to prep and handle their own art work. For examples of Art I Artwork, see the Student Art Gallery!

The first semester of this course is very similar to the Art I semester course, however; we will go further in depth and create a variety of works that the semester course doesn't hold time for.
