What is ART-Questionnaire |
As you can see from the above example; this activity allows student to draw/sketch without feeling judged. The first thing I hear students say each year is "I can't Draw". My hope in this activity is that each student will realize that even if their drawing skills are lacking, they can still enjoy the art process. The good thing is, I will teach them all there is to know about how to draw! Drawing well is natural for some and a learned skill for others.
I will keep their first drawings and compare them to their last drawing of the year. I'm sure they will see tremendous progress and many laughs!

Getting to know each other will greatly aid in creating a positive classroom environment. While enjoying a few laughs we will get to know one another while playing a drawing game. The game is called Telephone Pictionary. It is a combination of the well known telephone and pictionary games. (rules are below)
During the first week of ART, we will first be going over classroom Policy, Procedure and Expectations. Also, reviewing the ART Syllabus. I will give a classroom "tour" so that everyone knows where all materials are located, where to place artwork and where to keep personal art materials. (You will find all classroom documents on the MacArthur Art home page.)
After all above material is covered, we will play the circle game, which reveals each students creativity. Then we will all answer the questions on the "What is ART Questionnaire. (attached below)
